Prepaid wallet

A prepaid wallet is an account balance, usually held in a fiat currency such as USD, that the customer funds in advance and from which every purchase of traffic or addresses is deducted. It replaces cards on file and recurring charges: nothing is billed that was not funded first, and the balance is the customer's spending limit. Wallets are the natural fit for pay-as-you-go pricing and for cryptocurrency top-ups, whose exchange rate is fixed when the balance is credited.

How a top-up becomes balance#

  1. You choose an amount and a payment method; for crypto, an address and an exact amount are shown.
  2. The payment confirms on its network; the balance is credited in USD at the rate of that moment.
  3. Purchases deduct from the balance; the ledger lists every credit and debit with its reference.

Things to look for#

  • Minimum top-up and any bonus for larger amounts.
  • Whether the balance itself expires (it should not).
  • Refund path for unused balance.
  • Whether automatic renewals can touch the balance, and whether they are opt-in.

How it works at ProxShift#

ProxShift accounts hold a USD wallet funded in cryptocurrency from $20, with a bonus on larger top-ups (+10% from $100, +25% from $250, +40% from $500, +50% from $1,000); the balance never expires, unused balance can be refunded to the wallet it came from, and renewals only ever use the balance, on opt-in.
